AUGER ON EXCAVATOR AND MINI EXCAVATOR: HOW TO TURN IT INTO A MULTIFUNCTION TOOL WITH QM ATTACHMENTS
The versatility of the auger on excavator is proven by lived experience, being a piece of equipment that offers the user the opportunity to have various attachments that can be installed on it. As already specified in the dedicated article, the auger is a device that connects the machine with the final working attachment, transforming, in practice, into a multifunctional tool.
Trivializing the concept a lot, one could compare the auger to the adapters found in a modern vacuum cleaner or garden machine. In addition to the central body with the motor and control buttons, there is an attachment that allows for the insertion and mounting of various accessories, transforming the vacuum cleaner into a carpet vacuum, window cleaner, scrubber, fugue vacuum, and so on. Similarly, the farm machine, which, thanks to its adapter, allows the installation of different accessories such as hedge trimmer, chainsaw, scissors, trimmer, and extension cords.
By being able to “see” the drill from this perspective, it is easier to understand its potential and functions. Value is also added by the wide range of QM accessories which are able to perfectly adapt to excavator and mini-excavator drills, providing the user with new opportunities to work reliably, safely and functionally.

Excavator attachments
Our company has designed, developed and built several accessories to be installed on hydraulic drills, available in different sizes and compatible with multiple machines. Thanks to these tools it is possible to carry out numerous jobs, operating with precision in order to achieve quality results, in total safety. Here is an overview of the accessories that allow the auger to transform into a multifunctional tool.
The log splitter
This is an appendage used mainly in agriculture, useful for splitting wood logs thus making them smaller and easier to handle. In this case, the operation of the log splitter is hydraulic. Connected to the auger, it receives the mode from the machine so that the wedge-shaped tip (this is the design with which it is aptly designed) penetrates the log, splitting it. It is generally used for firewood production, but not only. In fact, it finds scope of application from do-it-yourself to heavy-duty operations, and in forestry it can be useful when splitting large logs or stumps is appropriate.
The bit is placed against the wood to be processed, and then “screws” into the log due to the conical shape of this important tool capable of withstanding heavy work loads that require great strength. For this reason, it is essential to choose the best auger for the work to be done with the log splitter.

The stump chopper
The stump grinder is used for crushing and shredding stumps and logs, especially the remnants of these still left in the ground following the cutting of a tree. This equipment is commonly used in forestry and agriculture to turn waste wood into smaller material, such as chips or sawdust. For even more precise work, it is possible, on QM log cutter models, to adjust the maximum working depth in the soil.
The features of the stump chopper may vary, but in general it has sharp blades that chop wood as movement comes from the machine through the auger. It can be used either independently or in conjunction with other equipment, such as a tractor, to facilitate transportation and operation. The material obtained from the stump chopper can be used for various purposes, such as composting, production natural heating systems, or as mulch material in gardening.

The power harrow
One of the best attachments for excavators is the power harrow. This is an agricultural implement used for tilling the soil, particularly for preparing the soil for planting. Just to give the idea, it consists of a kind of “kitchen mixer,” but much larger in size. Blades are installed on the top plate that have the function of crushing blocks of soil and “mixing” it. It comes in very handy when you have to bring out any weed roots (and then remove them), break up compacted clods giving uniformity to the soil and then level the soil, or to mix organic fertilizer substances to the soil.
The power harrow is, therefore, particularly useful in the agricultural sector and is often used in later combination with other equipment to optimize field preparation.

The cement mixer
We all know what a cement mixer is, and while it might come as a surprise that this attachment can be installed on QM augers, reality suggests just that. This demonstrates, once again, the flexibility of having an auger on excavator as a multifunctional apparatus.
Useful for mixing cement, but not only that, the concrete mixer can also be placed at an angle to work in a different way.

Soil drilling bits
The collective imagination interprets the auger as a tool for drilling into the ground. This is true only in the case where a drill bit is attached to it. The QM range is very wide and allows the best drill bit to be chosen according to the type of soil on which to operate. This can be soft, hard, general, stony, compact, rocky, asphalt. What changes in the bit is its geometry and propeller design. The range of QM soil bits is really varied.

Development of outdoor and recreational spaces and environments
In the development of recreational areas, such as parks, trails, bike paths, and paths, the skid steer mulcher could be used to keep vegetation under control and create even more open spaces. These tools help manage the growth of trees, bushes and shrubs, ensuring a safe, orderly and pleasant environment for visitors.
Auger extension cord
Sometimes the installation of an auger on an excavator may not be sufficient to be able to work at height or at a distance. In this case an extension bracket is what could solve the problem, interposing it between the auger itself and the end tool. One of the accessories previously described will be attached to the end of the extension bracket
